Font - AITA for putting sauce on my steak? Not the A-hole I (32m) have been dating my girlfriend (32f) for just under a year. We have (I think) a really good relationship so far, so l'm a little puzzled by a fight we recently had and want to know if I was in the wrong. About a week ago she asked if she could come over to my house and make me a nice meal. I told her "Of course; why would I turn that down?" She came over with a couple of porterhouse steaks, some corn on the cob, potatoes, and aspa

Font - Font - When my girlfriend served up our two plates full of food she saw the bottle of steak sauce that I had included and said "Oh, seasoned it well. Don't you DARE put steak sauce on it." I did take a couple of bites of the meat "naked" but while it was tasty I just really missed the slightly tangy taste of the sauce that I think complements even a good cut of meat. I told her that she couldn't have done a better job but just due to my own taste that I was going to use a small amount of

Font - I think that she was being unfair and that she took it too personally; I just happen to like steak sauce, even on a really good steak. But maybe since she sprung for a couple of good cuts of meat and was nice enough to cook them for us I should have just eaten my meal the way she wanted me to. What do you think? Was I wrong? 7k 3 3.8k ↑, Share

Font - NTA I personally wouldn't want steak sauce on a really good cut of meat, especially if it was done right. But it's your food and you're the one eating it. It sounds like she's taking it too personally; it's not a commentary on her cooking you just like steak sauce. She overreacted IMO. G Reply 8.8k ..

Font - Less_Seaworthiness_7 · 1d Partassipant [3] NTA You tried it as it was served, if you hadn't, you would be TA. Your GF's reaction is not uncommon. It is considered rude & an insult to the chef, by some, to add steak sauce to a steak. 5 Reply 4 2.9k 3

I know I get really irritated if someone puts steak sauce on a good steak too, so I might be biased. (Steak sauce totally drowns out any other flavors, man!!) 5 Reply 1 1.5k 3

    Smile - My-Username-Is-Dis · 1d Colo-rectal Surgeon [48] NTA, it's a preference. This is petty you're both in your 30's. She can't tell you how to eat your food. G Reply 988 +

Font - mrstrust · 1d NAH. She was trying to impress you with a really good meal and top tier ingredients, and was probably hurt that you needed to add steak sauce, which does cover up the rest of the flavors. You just like steak sauce. It wouldn't be reddit if people weren't telling you to break up over steak sauce. LOL. I'm sure your relationship can survive this. It's not a big deal. Rectangle - GumpTheChump · 1d Part of the thought process here is that if she wanted to serve you a cheap cut of steak that you would just slather in cheap sauce, she could have done that. She overreacted but now she knows better. But be warned -- you're not getting the good steak anymore. G Reply 1 125 3 ...

Font - NAH, but you were maybe rude. I love steak sauce too, but if somebody cooked me a fancy dinner and made it clear they'd be offended if I used steak sauce, l'd skip the sauce. You can go one time without sauce. G Reply 1 149 3 ...

Font - edgestander · 23h My favorite steak house in the world, world renowned Peter Lugers in NYC, which is very expensive and serves USDA Prime steaks, brings out a whole gravy boat of house steak sauce when you order a steak. I mean I don't use it personally, but this American idea that you are somehow uncultured if you use steak sauce is so silly. G Reply 4 10 3

Rectangle - 1 Award NAH. Where l'm from it is an insult to the cook to put sauce on a steak. If she grew up to see it as an insult and you didn't, that's a "cultural" difference. No one is necessarily wrong. G Reply 4 343 3 + ...
